Citi is deploying beacon technology from Gimbal at a number of its Smart Banking branches in Manhattan.
For the pilot trial, the US bank is using the Bluetooth Smart Beacons to give customers cardless entry into ATM lobbies after hours using their iPhone or iWatch. Citi customers who opt in can also receive location-based customised messaging direct to their mobiles, promoting special offers and events.
