U.S. stocks weighed by rout in oil after solid jobs report

U.S. stocks tumbled Friday as oil prices slumped and a March official jobs report showed an economy that is expanding, albeit at a moderate pace.

The S&P 500 SPX, +0.03% was down 12 points, or 0.6%, at 2,047, led by sharp losses in the energy and materials sectors, down 1.8% and 1.4%. A sharp 4% fall in crude-oil prices weighed on the energy-related sectors and drove broader stocks lower.
