U.S. stocks edge higher as investors look past coronavirus to solid corporate earnings

Stocks edged higher on Monday as Wall Street investors took heart in mostly solid U.S. fourth-quarter corporate earnings and looked beyond concerns about the coronavirus outbreak’s potential disruption to supply chains.

What are major indexes doing?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.16% rose 65 points to 29,169, a gain of 0.2%. The S&P 500 index SPX, +0.29% advanced 11 points, or 0.3%, to 3,338. The Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, +0.63% climbed 64 points, or 0.7%, to 9,584, a new intraday record.
