Stocks attempt tentative climb after jobs report

U.S. stocks traded modestly higher Friday morning, after a report from the Labor Department showed the U.S. economy adding a less-than-expected 155,000 jobs in November—data investors are parsing ahead of the Federal Reserve’s last rate-setting gathering of 2018.

How are the benchmarks performing?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.61% rose 92 points, or 0.4%, at 25,038, the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.63% rose 7 points, or 0.3%, at 2,702, while the Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -0.94% traded 7 points, or 0.1%, lower at 7,179.
