How many rate hikes in 2016? Lacker says 4, Evans 2

Two Federal Reserve policymakers gave different outlooks of the U.S. economy Thursday in speeches addressing rising interest rates.

Richmond Federal Reserve President Jeffrey Lacker said the Federal Reserve might need to raise interest rates more than four times this year. But Chicago Federal Reserve President Charles Evans said in a separate speech on Thursday his view of the U.S. interest rate path in 2016 was consistent with two hikes.

The Fed raised rates in December, the first hike in nearly a decade.
