Stocks trade mixed after another grim weekly jobless claims report, as coronavirus cases grow

U.S. stocks were trading mixed to moderately lower on Thursday as investors digested a weekly report on the labor market in the U.S. and contend with signs of rising cases and hospitalizations of COVID-19 in several American states.

How are benchmarks faring?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, 0.02% was down about 61 points, 0.2%, lower, near 26,058, while the S&P 500 index SPX, 0.05% was about 1 point lower, trading near 3,113. Both indexes pared early, heavier losses. The Nasdaq COMP, 0.20% gained about 21 points to 9,931, up 0.2%.
