Dow tumbles another 250 points after data show slowing U.S. services sector

U.S. stocks fell sharply Thursday morning after a report on the U.S. services sector showed it growing at a slower pace than at any point since 2016, following a report on manufacturing earlier this week that showed it contracting for the second month in a row.

How are benchmarks performing?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.49% fell 279 points, or 1.1%, to 25,803, the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.30% lose 25 points, or 0.9% to 2,862, while the Nasdaq Composite index COMP, -0.30% retreated 63 points to reach 7,721, a loss of 0.8%.
