U.S. stocks turned lower Wednesday afternoon, with investors experiencing a bumpy ride, as Wall Street struggled to shake off a selloff in the previous session, amid data on economic growth that were seen as underlining strength in the economy that might warrant an increase to corporate borrowing costs.

Major indexes were on track for monthly losses, with the S&P and Dow on track for their first monthly decline since March last year.
